We survived our first week of 2nd grade! Your little ones have been busy learning our rules and procedures. This year our school has taken on a new set of PBIS expectations. We call them GIFTS, which goes great with the theme of our school, Gifted and Talented. Each letter represents an expectation for the school and in the classroom.

When our students are caught using their "GIFTS" in the hallway, the Cafeteria, Electives and Specials they can receive a GIFTScard for our class. When we collect 100 we get a letter "G", and when we get another 100 we get an "I" and so on. I am proud to say in a week we have received 80 GIFTScards!! The kids are so excited and so am I.
We reviewed our classroom and school rules by completed a little booklet on rules. We reviewed what was the correct way to behave in the classroom, cafeteria, playground, hallway and on the bus.

We also have been working a project for the first week of school that we will be displaying for Open House on September 24th. I wanted to give you a sneak peak of their week long project that they have been really enjoying.
Please keep an eye out for a Technology Release Form that must be returned to school signed to allow your child to use the computers and ipads. This form will be sent home in their folder on Monday 8/31.
Also on Monday 8/31 we will begin testing your children for their reading levels. They will be reading a fiction story and have to answer questions orally and written. Based on their reading levels they will be placed into reading groups to work on the skills they may need to work on. I will be sending home a communication about their results so you will know what you can do to help at home as well.
I have really enjoyed working with your children and learning all about them.
